The Racial Salary Gap has increased in the County Controller’s Office, even as it decreased throughout the rest of County government.
While the racial salary gap for active employees across the rest of county government has decreased by 1.5% over the past year, it has increased in the Controller’s office, where salaries for white employees on average have jumped 7.5%, yet salaries for Black employees have decreased by 1.3%. In the Controller’s Office, Black employees make on average 76% of white employee salaries, and that’s worse than it was a year ago when it was 83%.
In December 2021:
White employee salaries in the Controller’s office averaged: 60,580.14
Black employee salaries in the Controller’s office averaged: 50,423.30 (83% of White employee salaries)
White employee salaries in the rest of County Government averaged: 57,312.03
Black employee salaries in the rest of County Government averaged: 49,353.20 (86% of White employee salaries)
In December 2022:
White employee salaries in the Controller’s office averaged: 65,136.30
Black employee salaries in the Controller’s office averaged: 49,763.34 (76% of White employee salaries)
White employee salaries in the rest of County Government averaged: 59,558.61
Black employee salaries in the rest of County Government averaged: 52,317.77 (88% of White employee salaries)
